So you want to get rich?

My first post will be about types of income and general ways to be successful.

Work, passive income, patents, business, investing and kickstarter!

Work
Work is probably the place you realize you should start a business, if not then it's the place where you love working and earn enough to fuel that passion.

Passive income
Passive income is basically money that gets generated with your energy to start and then a very small amount of your time.
Passive income can be a website that grows in value, a patent that you get payed a royalty for every month, an ebook that people buy on amazon or Google books or anything that makes you money with a little bit of time dedicated to it or no time at all.

Patents
So you want to invent the next Lazer tag or the next Lego or knex.
Invent a lot of ideas and write down the date on them
(very important).
Once you have an idea study "one simple idea" by Stephen Key (he's a genius and the person to learn from).
Now one book to study (also by stephen key) is "sell your idea with or without a patent".   From these books you will learn that you can get a provisional patent (a one year patent) for $80 for the first five and $100 for the ones after that, from te moment you patent your idea you have one year to license it to a company before the patent expires.

To sell an idea to a company you need to
A.  Find a good fit (a company that is involved in the category of your idea)
B.  Write a sell sheet (a 30 second speech that you will sell the  idea, make a bunch of sketches so you can explain your idea better).
C. A nondisclosure agreement (so the company can't steal your Idea)
D. To contact the person you will have to sell to just call the company and ask for the PR manager (explain your situation) and they will put you through to a person you should schedule a meeting or Skype conference with.
E. Dress very well, a formal shirt, a pair of pressed jeans or black pants, comb your hair, tuck in your shirt, use some cologne, rehearse what you're going to say but memorize the key points.
To sell an idea to a company you need to
A.  Find a good fit (a company that is involved in the category of your idea)
B.  Write a sell sheet, a 30 second speech and email that you will sell the  idea with and 3 sketches so you can explain your idea better.
C.  A nondisclosure agreement (so the company can't steal your Idea)
D.  Call the company's headquarters and ask for a place to submit your idea, usually that will be the PR manager (public relations manager).
E.  Call to Set up an in person meeting or Skype video conference or submit your idea via a submission form on the companies website.

Business
Register business name at city hall (gets you a business liscense)  (perhaps a retail liscense)
3. Research banks for best business account
4. Get personal, credit account (for proof of honesty, trustworthiness) and a business account at a bank
5. Print business cards (staples, Vista print or officemax)
6. Get two phone numbers on the same cell phone (one for business and one for  personal  calls)
7. Work on a relationship with one wholesale company to get better prices, the best price is called the "jobber price".
8. Once you have enough money take risks  on investments (pay'pays  more).
11. Liscense ideas on the side so you have a second source of income (passive income)

During all this work on provisional patents.  Write a page or five every day and  move on till you publish after five or six revisions.

Note.  This is not going to be fun, this is going to be hard work

Start a business,  (retail)
Save by eating cheap.  Eat oatmeal, fruit and dark green vegetables.
Have a tablet and laptop only.  Use Internet at local coffee shop ordering only a glass of water and the cheapest item on the menu.

Once you earn enough start another business, hire and teach managers how to run the business on their own, give raises and instructions.

Investing
Use "Robin hood" or some other small treading app until you get good.  When you get good invest up to 4% of your savings in a "sure" thing investment.

Kickstarter
Start by figuring out what business you want to fund (something new)
Exposure, make a website, send interview opportunities to online newspapers, YouTube interviews (skype).  Setup a deal with a Chinese manufacturer  (to make your product)  hire a tax lawyer ($60) so you don't have to pay any taxes on your project.  Setup a deal with a store to sell your product.  Use shipwire to ship your product (really cheap and really good).

Hopefully this will help you with your endeavors.
